A round robin turns one set of selections into every smaller parlay you can build from them. Five selections split into doubles is ten separate bets, each staked in full, so the outlay is ten units rather than one.

That is what you are buying: an accumulator dies on its first losing leg, while a round robin keeps paying from the combinations that survived. The price is the multiplied outlay, and the bookmaker's margin is charged on every one of those bets.

How the Round Robin Bet Calculator works

A round robin splits a group of selections into every smaller parlay you can build from them, so one losing leg no longer kills the whole ticket. This free round robin calculator shows how many bets that is, what they cost in total, and exactly what comes back for every number of winners.

How a round robin is priced

Pick n selections and a combination size k, and you are writing C(n, k) separate parlays. Four selections in doubles is six bets; five in trebles is ten. Each one carries the full unit stake, so a 10-unit round robin over four selections costs 60, not 10.

Every combination is then settled on its own: multiply the odds inside it for that bet's price, and add up the ones whose legs all won for the total return. The calculator lists each combination so you can see where the money actually comes from.

Why the same number of winners can pay two different amounts

Because the legs carry different prices, 'three of five landed' is a range rather than a figure. If the three long shots came in you collect far more than if the three favourites did, even though both are three winners. That is why the scenario table reports a worst and a best case for each count.

The worst case is the number worth reading. It answers the only question that matters before you stake: if this goes half right, what comes back? A ticket that needs four of five winners just to break even is a much longer shot than the bet slip makes it look.

Round robin, accumulator or singles

A straight accumulator pays the most and dies first. Singles never die but never compound. A round robin sits between them: it survives a loss or two, and pays for that survival with a bigger outlay and a smaller top prize.

None of the three changes the maths of the underlying bets. The margin sits in every leg and is charged again in every combination, so a round robin over selections with no edge is a slower way to pay the vig. Dutching and each-way betting reshape risk in the same spirit — the expected value still comes from the prices, never from the structure.

How many bets is a round robin?expand_more

C(n, k) — the number of ways to choose k selections from n. Three selections in doubles is 3 bets, four in doubles is 6, five in doubles is 10, and a full cover of four selections (all doubles, trebles and the fourfold) is 11.

How much does a round robin cost?expand_more

The unit stake multiplied by the number of combinations. Ten units across the six doubles of a four-selection round robin puts 60 at risk, not 10.

Can a round robin lose money when most of the legs win?expand_more

Yes. Because you are staking several times over, the surviving combinations have to cover the whole outlay. With four of five winners at short prices the total return can still come in below the total staked.

Is a round robin better than a parlay?expand_more

It is safer and more expensive. The accumulator has the higher ceiling, the round robin the higher chance of getting something back. Neither improves the expected value of the selections themselves.
